FOREWORD
I have tried for three years to measure and write down some of my favorite
recipes. Some of these recipes are as old as time and some are new ones,
some are handed down and some are my children's favorites. However, all
of these are tried and true and have server many.
Remember that a recipe is only a guide. The first time you prepare a
dish, follow the recipe. Next time you prepare it, feel free to add or
subtract and adjust. Making it your own is part of the pleasure of
cooking.
When you shop, buy the best and freshest ingredients you can find and
afford. Always prepare the dish with love and to the best of your
ability. Please do not waste good ingredients with a haphazard
attitude. I know that not everyone likes to cook. However, when
you do cook, like it or not, do your very best! If you don't have the
time go out to eat, even if it just McDonalds. Having the meal together
with your family and loved ones is more important than what you eat.
A special thanks to Hurston, this cookbook was his idea. My love you you
and
yours!
